How does Catering to Kids lunch program work?

Lunches are delivered to your school each day at a predetermined time just before lunch period. Hot lunches are kept hot in crock-pots in a safe place. Lunches are served in disposable bowls and dishes as per DHEC regulations.

Who serves the lunches?

A teacher volunteer will help serve lunches and eat with children in order to maintain order and instill good eating manners. Catering to Kids offers one volunteer - teacher an adult portioned lunch daily at no cost. Adult lunches are $6.50 per day.

What if my child is a picky eater?

We have found that children love our lunches. Some children are particularly hard to please, but it is especially important for these children to receive a healthy, well-balanced meal. We have found that children eating in community with other children are more likely to try new foods. Parents tell us over and over that their children are eating foods they never would have touched before and are more conscious of eating healthy foods.

Who cleans up?

Children and volunteer teacher place trash in trash can, (recycling whatever is recyclable), wipe down tables, and place, crockpot inserts in plastic bin for pick up by Catering to Kids’ staff.

What if my child has food allergies?

We can accommodate some food allergies, please call Jacqueline to discuss your child’s dietary needs.
